Recorder

The recorder counts as a beginner’s instrument and yet has not stayed one: it has a repertoire of its own from the Renaissance to the present and is played in groups from descant to bass. The note comes at once, so notation and rhythm can be learned early — also as preparation for another instrument. Three teachers give recorder lessons; in St. Georgen and Furtwangen recorder ensembles play together, one of them with adults.
