Flute

The flute is the lightest of the wind instruments and needs no mouthpiece — the sound is made at an edge, by the air stream alone. That takes patience at first but rewards you with a tone ranging from delicate to radiant. For smaller children there are curved head joints so that the arms reach. Four teachers give flute lessons; in the Bläserbande and the junior wind orchestra the flute carries a leading part.
