Clarinet

The clarinet has the widest range of the woodwinds and a tone that can be warm at the bottom and cutting at the top. It is equally at home in wind music, classical music and klezmer. The first note comes quickly; the interplay of breath pressure and fingering then takes time. Three teachers give clarinet lessons — one of them directs the Bläserbande, the first ensemble for beginners.
