Double bass

The double bass is the largest of the string instruments and the foundation of almost any ensemble — with the bow in the orchestra, plucked in jazz. It is played standing or on a high stool; for children there are eighth- and quarter-size instruments. Because bass players are needed everywhere, playing together starts early. Two teachers give double bass lessons.
